Effingham Public Library Hosts:

Board on a Thursday – Tween / Teen edition, from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at the Suzette Brumleve Memorial Effingham Public Library.  Bored on a Thursday afternoon?  Play a variety of board games, make new friends, and cure your boredom!  Snacks provided!  This is a free event, no registration is required.  A library card is not required. Ages 10-18.

Book Sale – from 9 am to 2pm Friday, June 12 and from 9am to 12pm, Saturday, June 13, at the Suzette Brumleve Memorial Effingham Public Library.  The book sale features new, lightly used and vintage books in a wide array of categories.  All ages welcome.

Stars, Stripes, and Story Time – with the Daughters of the American Revolution, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, at the Suzette Brumleve Memorial Effingham Public Library.  Join us for stories, songs and lots of fun with The Daughters of the American Revolution to celebrate America’s 250th Birthday!  No Registration Required.  Ages 0-4.

Create Your Own Constitution – with the Daughters of the American Revolution, from 3 to 3:45 p.m., Tuesday, June 16, at the Suzette Brumleve Memorial Effingham Public Library.  Young participants will learn about America 250 and discover how our country was founded through an engaging, age-appropriate discussion.  Kids will also have the chance to get creative by making a Constitution of their own while exploring the ideas and freedoms that helped shape the United States.  This hands-on program is a great way for children to learn, create, and celebrate American history together!  Registration is required.  Ages 5-12.

The Power of Song in Democracy – with Chris Vallillo, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 17, at the Suzette Brumleve Memorial Effingham Public Library.  A celebration of our country’s 250th anniversary.  A folk musician with American roots, Chris explores how music was used as a political and social tool throughout the history of our nation.  Registration is required.  All ages welcome.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s Real Life Program – with the Master Gardeners, from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, June 18, at the Suzette Brumleve Memorial Effingham Public Library.  Learn why butterflies are important to gardens and how they help plants grow.  Join the Master Gardeners for a fun and educational program about caterpillars and butterflies– from a tiny egg to beautiful butterfly.  Ages 5-12.  Registration Required.

Bad Art Night – with the teen advisory board, from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at the Suzette Brumleve Memorial Effingham Public Library.  Plant the Seed of Confidence.  Have some fun being creative without the pressures of making something beautiful.  It’ll be a great chance to make some new friends!  Registration required.  Ages 13-18

Adulting 101 Series: Mental Health and Emotional Skills – from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at the Suzette Brumleve Memorial Effingham Public Library.  Prepare for adulthood with this four-part Life Hacks series for Teens!  Learn how to manage stress, understand emotions, find support, and build confidence.  Registration required.  Bring laptop if able.  Ages 13-18.
