Neoga Nabs Tri-County Wood Bat Tourney, Altamont Wins Twice, T-town Victorious In Varsity, JV Play

Neoga High School captured the championship of the Tri-County Titans Wood Bat Baseball Tournament Saturday.

Neoga was a winner over host Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, 4-1. All four runs came in the fourth inning. Windsor/Stew-Stras’ lone run came in the fifth.

The Indians finished with five hits, all singles by Callen Lanham, Evan Fearday, Cayden Hakman, Braylon Sparrow and Malik Coy. Hakman had two RBI while Lanham and Grady Haarman had one each.

Hakman went the distance on the mound. He gave up one run on three hits, walked one and struck out five.

Neoga handed Tri-County an 8-3 loss. Neoga moved into a 1-0 opening inning lead but Tri-County tied in the top of the second. Neoga came right back with three runs in the bottom of the frame, then tacked on single runs in the fourth and fifth and two in the sixth.

Neoga banged out 13 hits. Sparrow had four singles and two RBI while Garrett Ballinger added a double and an RBI. Hakman finished with a single and two RBI while Coy, Fearday and Lanham had a single and an RBI each. Haarman and Brett Matusas added two singles each.

At Altamont

Altamont tallied six runs in the third inning and went on for a 7-5 victory over Flora Saturday.

The Indians finished with eight hits. Will Reardon had a single and double while Carson Milleville and Reed Stuemke added two singles and an RBI each. Cooper McManaway and Kaiden Wolff had a single and an RBI each. Zaine Miller, Brayden Elam and Parker Bell had an RBI each.

Kale Davis was the winning pitcher. He went the first four innings, giving up two hits. He did not walk a batter.

Altamont was an 11-1 winner in five innings against Red Hill (Bridgeport).

The Indians moved into a 2-0 opening inning lead, led 3-0 after two and 7-1 after three. They ended up with two more runs in the fourth and ended the game via the 10-run rule in the fifth.

Altamont finished with seven hits led by K. Milleville with two singles and three RBI, Miller with two singles, Bell with a single and three RBI, C. Milleville with a single and an RBI and Stuemke with an RBI.

Kaiden Wolff went all five innings on the mound. He gave up one run, two hits, walked five and struck out four.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis totaled all four runs in the third inning and that was enough for a 4-2 victory over Pleasant Plains Saturday.

Greg Addis tossed a four-hitter in 5.2 innings for the pitching victory. He gave up one run, walked two and struck out five.

Meanwhile, the Shoes had only three hits, two off the bat of Nolan Schumacher with a single and double. Teagan Pals had a single and two RBI while Austin Borries had an RBI.

In the junior varsity contest, Teutopolis was a 5-1 winner over Pleasant Plains.

Michael Habing provided the power for the Shoes with a double, home run and two RBI. Jake Kocher had a solo homer. Bryce Niebrugge added a double. Hayden Tebben finished with two RBI.
