ALTAMONT — Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg was a winner over Altamont in high school volleyball competition Thursday.
The Hatchets won 25-7, 25-11 to improve to 3-0 in the National Trail Conference and 4-0 overall.
“We switched our offense up tonight with Kendra being gone,” said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. “Cora Reed and Gia Bostedo shared setting duties for a 6-2 and both had a fantastic night.
“Our hitters are improving their game and utilizing options we’ve been working on. The true test will be this weekend and how we can handle the big teams. It’s a great tournament to see where we are and what we need to focus on.”
Mya Friese led the winners in aces with five, kills with six and digs with five. Abree Zalman, Zaida Wascher and Gia Bostedo all had five digs each. Bostedo and Cora Reed led in assists with seven. Wascher, Brooke Schumacher and Zoey Conder had one block each.
Leading Altamont were Abigail Wills with 10 digs, Adiilyn Schnarre with four assists and Avery Aldrich with two kills.
The Hatchets also claimed the junior varsity win, 25-16, 25-14 to remain unbeaten at 4-0 and won the freshman/sophomore match 25-17, 25-19 and is 4-1-2.

At St. Anthony
Effingham St. Anthony hosted Robinson and sent the Maroons home with a 25-17, 25-5 defeat Thursday.
Cara Hatton led the Bulldogs in kills with 14, aces with three and digs with six. Colby McCormick also had six digs. Madelyn Gilmore led in assists with 21.
St. Anthony is now 8-1 on the season and back in action Tuesday at Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City.
The Bulldogs also won the junior varsity match, 25-18, 25-22 and the freshman/sophomore contest, 25-12, 25-10.

St. Elmo/Brownstown handed Sandoval a loss in two sets, 25-9, 25-8 Thursday evening for its fifth straight victory on the season.
Peyton Barker led in kills with 11. Chloe Austin had three aces and three digs. Mya Barker also had three digs.
St. Elmo/Brownstown returns to action traveling to Ramsey Monday in Egyptian-Illini Conference play.
The Eagles are now 8-1 on the season.

Swingler led in digs with 26, aces with three, sets with 50 and assists with 10. G. Tegeler had 11 kills. Swingler and Mette had three aces each.
Salem won the junior varsity match, 25-23, 19-25, 25-23. T-town drops to 4-2 on the season.
In the freshman match, Salem was a winner 25-17, 25-23. T-town is 3-1-1 on the season.

Newton High School claimed the varsity match win over Edwards County (Albion) Thursday.
The Eagles won 25-16, 25-21 to remain unbeaten with a 10-0 record. Stanley led in assists with 18 while Schackmann had eight kills. Probst led in digs with five and Schumacher had one block.
Edwards County was a winner in the junior varsity contest, 16-25, 28-26, 15-9. The two teams split freshman/sophomore matches. Edwards County won 25-22 and Newton won 25-19.
