CHARLESTON — Area boys competed in the Class 1A and Class 2A State Track meets at Eastern Illinois University during the weekend.
The top finish was a fourth place by Effingham St. Anthony’s Eli Hiatt in the 300 hurdles. He took fourth with a time of 39.31 seconds. He also competed in the 110 hurdles, finishing 10th in prelims in 15.16 sec. and DNA.
Other top 10 finishes included:
Trevor Crutcher (Dieterich) sixth in the 3200 in 9:42.38 minutes. He also competed in the 1600 where he finished 10th in 4:32.09.
Brayden Ray (Neoga) took seventh in the high jump at 1.93 meters.
Karson Zerrusen (Teutopolis) was seventh in the 110 hurdles in 14.78 seconds. He competed in the 300 hurdles and finished with a time of 4.16 but did not advance to the finals.
Reid Carlen (Cumberland) was eighth in the 100 in 10.89 seconds. He competed in the 200 and finished with a time of 22.15 seconds to finish 12th in prelims and did not advance to finals. In the 200 prelims he was 12th with a time of 22.15 seconds and did not advance.
The Pirates’ Cameron Roedl was eighth in the 3200 in 9:49.39 minutes. He competed in the 1600 and finished 23rd in prelims in 4:47.43 and did not advance.
The Newton 4×400 relay team of Henry Will, Matthew Haskett, Hayden Borgic and Parker Harris finished ninth in 3:26.71 minutes.
Brant Niebrugge (Teutopolis) finished ninth in the pole vault at 4.10 meters.
Brock Wendling (Altamont) was 10th in the shot with a heave of 15.97 meters.
Two Effingham competitiors finished eighth in Class 2A. Jenner Pals took eighth in the finals of the high jump at 1.98m and Maxx Kistler was eighth in the long jump at 6.65m.
