 Effingham Wins Boys, Girls Track Meets, Celebrates Senior Night

Effingham High School was a winner in both the boys and girls track meets as the Hearts celebrated Senior Night Tuesday.

The girls won the meet with 116 points followed by Charleston 91 and Altamont 41.

Baylee Summers captured two wins. Summers took the 800 in 2:33.62 minutes and won the 3200 in 13:36.56.

Camdyn Burgholzer also was a double winner. She won the 100 hurdles in 17.63 seconds and the high jump at 5 feet, 5 inches.

Emery Spicer won two field events. She took the long jump at 4.51 meters and was a winner in the triple jump at 9.42 meters.

Ina Mapes claimed the 1600 in 6:26.16 minutes.

The 4×400 relay team of Macy Kirk, Spicer, Alayna Wade and Summers won in 4:33.94 minutes.

Kylie Pryor claimed the pole vault at 10 feet.

Altamont won the 4×100 relay in 53.95 seconds. Team members were Katie Tedrick, Keely Fleeharty, Quincy Niermann and Baileigh Starnes. The Indians also claimed the SMR 800 Relay in 2:01.33 meters. Team members were Tedrick, Fleeharty, Niermann and Starnes.

Kara Bauer was a double event winner for the Indians. She captured the shot with a heave of 8.41 meters and won the discus at 25.98 meters.

In the boys meet, Effingham was a winner with 120.5 points followed by Charleston 65.5, Altamont 44 and Dieterich 14.

Sebastian Simoni won the 100 with a time of 11.61 seconds and the 200 in 23.19.

Alex Gordon claimed the 800 in 2:01.91 minutes. Bryden Kade won the 300 hurdles in 47.54 seconds.

In field events, Addison Clark was a winner in the discus with a throw of 45.77 meters. Jenner Pals captured the high jump at 6 feet, 4 inches. DJ Latham won the long jump at 5.74 meters.

The Hearts also won the 4×100 relay in 44.98 seconds. Team members were Maxx Kistler, Braxton Osborne, Kellen Richmond and Simoni. They also claimed the 4×400 relay in 3:54.99 minutes. Team members were Osborne, Kade, Kael Allison and Gordon.

EHS won the SMR 800 Relay in 2:00.48 minutes. Team members were Kistler, Latham, Allison and Gordon.

Dieterich’s Trevor Crutcher won the 1600 in 4:42.98 minutes.

Altamont’s Kelton Dunaway was a winner in the 3200 in 11:12.92 minutes. Brock Wendling was a winner in the shot with a heave of 14.71 meters while Jacob Veteto won the pole vault at 13 feet, 6 inches. The triple jump went to Jacob Johnson with a throw of 11.74 meters.
