 St. Anthony Girls Second, C’land Boys Second In Track Meets

TUSCOLA — Effingham St. Anthony finished second in the girls 40th Annual Tuscola Open Track Meet Friday while Cumberland captured second place in the boys meet.

In the girls meet, Sullivan was the team champion with 78.5 points while the Bulldogs were only five-tenths off the winner with 78. Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond finished in third with 72 followed by Fisher 68, Marshall 53, Villa Grove 45, Cerro Gordo-Bement 44, Catlin Salt Fork 26, Casey-Westfield 23, Tuscola 20.5, Argenta-Oreana 19, Moweaqua Central A&M 11, Cumberland 8, Hume Shiloh 3 and Neoga 2.

St. Anthony’s Reese Hoene claimed first place in three events. She won the 100 in 12.36 seconds, the 400 in 58.19 seconds and the long jump with a leap of 5.33 meters.

Aubrey Denning was a winner in the 800 with a time of 2:21.36 minutes and finished second in the 1600 in 5:15.97 minutes.

Taylor Denning was second in the pole vault at 2.44 meters. Liv Hoene took third in the 300 hurdles in 49.63 seconds.

The 4×400 relay team of Hoene, Audrey LaSarge, Rachel Emmerich and A. Denning were winners in 4:20.45 minutes.

In the boys meet, Tuscola won with 105 points followed by Cumberland 102, Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond 58, Catlin Salt Fork 49, St. Anthony 42, Casey-Westfield 38, Sullivan 38, Villa Grove 30, Arcola 24, Neoga 20, Argenta-Oreana 19, Fisher 12, Cerro Gordo/Bement 10, Marshall 2 and Moweaqua Central A&M 2.

St. Anthony’s Camden Bloemer won the 3200 in 9:58.03 minutes while teammates Oliver Kreke was third in 10:06.14.

Eli Hiatt won the 300 hurdles for the Bulldogs with a time of 41.49 seconds.

Cumberland’s Reed Miller captured the triple jump at 12.45 meters. Reid Carlen finished second in the 100 with a time of 10.94 seconds and was second in the 200 in 22.38.

Cameron Roedl was second in the 1600 in 4:35.97 minutes while Colby Roedl was third in 4:36.22.

The Pirates’ Logan Gerhardt finished second in the 300 hurdles in 42.42.Gavin Whitaker took third in the 800 in 2:05.2.

Cumberland’s 4×800 relay team claimed first place in 8:29.91 minutes. Team members were Ca. Roedl, Co. Roedl, Gavin Whitaker and Kaleb Bierman. The 4×100 relay team finished second in 44.45 seconds. Team members were Landon Finn, Gerhardt, Cael McMechan and Carlen.

The Pirates’ Kaleb Bierman finished third in the high jump at 1.75 meters.

Neoga’s Brayden Ray won the high jump at 1.88 meters. The 4×800 relay team took second in 8:41.78 minutes. Team members were Kaden Bryant, Tate Christner, Jayton Hanfland and Brett Matusas.
