 Area Teams Compete at Sam Bennett Girls Track Invitational

ROBINSON — Robinson High School won its own Sam Bennett Girls Track Invitational Friday.

The Maroons tallied 135 points followed by Shelbyville 108, Newton 100, Teutopolis 81, Paris 73, Marshall 59, Richland County, Olney 59, Cumberland 26, Mount Carmel 23, Red Hill (Bridgeport) 12, North Clay 8, Altamont 7 and Lawrenceville 7. Brownstown/St. Elmo had competitors but not enough for a team score.

Teutopolis High School’s Bella Ordner won the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.63 seconds. Isabella Niebrugge was the winner in the 300 hurdles in 44.75 and took second in the 100 in 12.16 seconds.

The Wooden Shoes’ 4×100 relay team of Emma Isley, Ordner, Adrienne Koester and Niebrugge took second in 50.67 seconds.

Newton’s Emma Schumacher finished second in the pole vault at 9 feet. Stella Schackmann was second in the long jump at 16 feet, 1 inch and finished third in the 100 in 12.32 seconds and third in the 200 in 25.50. Grace Schumacher finished third in the 400 in 1:03.61 minutes.

The Eagles’ 4×100 relay team of E. Schumacher, Mariah McVicar, Morgan Schafer and Schackmann took third in 50.72 seconds. Newton’s 4×200 relay team of E. Schumacher, McVicar, Layla Thomann and Schafer were second on 1:51.68. The 4×800 relay team of Layna Marshall, Josie Vogt, Brooke Gentry and G. Schumacher were second in 10:24.26.
