 Effingham Captures Boys, Girls Track Meets At Paris High School

PARIS — Effingham High School captured both the boys and girls 10-team track meets Thursday at Paris High School.

The Hearts won the boys meet with 161 points followed by Paris 106.5, Newton 105, Georgetown-Ridge Farm 74, Effingham St. Anthony 73, Neoga 48.5, Arcola 45, Danville Schlarman 35, Marshall 15 and Hume Shiloh 12.

Effingham’s Sebastian Simoni won the 200 in 23.37 seconds. Alex Gordon was a winner in the 800 in 2:00.84 minutes.

The Hearts’ 4×100 relay team of Maxx Kistler, Lexton Roberts, DJ Latham and Simoni won in 44.80 seconds. The 4×200 relay team of Braxton Osborne, Kael Allison, Kellen Richmond and Simoni were winners in 1:34.35 minutes.

Blayne Ring was a winner in the discus with a throw of 143 ft. 4 in. while teammate Addison Clark took second at 138-5. The high jump went to the Hearts’ Jenner Pals at 6 feet, 6 inches. Kistler won the long jump at 21 feet, 10 3/4 inches.

St. Anthony’s Eli Hiatt claimed two wins. Hiatt took the 110 hurdles in 15.59 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 41.21.

Newton’s 4×400 relay team of Henry Will, Tanner Whitaker, Matthew Haskett and Hayden Borgic won in 3:37.89 minutes. The Eagles’ 1600 200-200-400-800 relay team was a winner in 3:46.07. Team members were Hayden Mulvey, Will, Haskett and Borgic.

The Eagles’ Evan Holder won the pole vault at 12 feet, 6 inches.

In the girls meet, Effingham was the winner with 137 points followed by Paris 124, Effingham St. Anthony 123, Charleston 103, Georgetown-Ridge Farm 49, Marshall 45, Danville Schlarman 30, Hume Shiloh 29, Arcola 20 and Neoga 12.

Once again St. Anthony’s Reese Hoene was a winner in three of the four events she participated in. Hoene won the 100 in 12.73 seconds, the 200 in 25.85 and the 400 in 57.40 and was second in the long jump at 16-7 3/4.

Effingham’s Baylee Summers won the 800 in 2:28.94 minutes.

The Hearts 4×400 relay team of Macy Kirk, Emery Spicer, Alayna Wade and Summers won in 4:10.97 minutes. The 1600 (200-200-400-800 relay team of Trinity Reed, Summers, Kirk and Spicer won in 4:30.43 minutes.

Effingham’s Camdyn Burgholzer claimed the high jump at 5 feet, 4 inches and won the triple jump at 31-7.

Keagyn Koenig was a winner for the Hearts in the shot with a heave of 36 feet, 6 1/2 inches.

St. Anthony’s Liv Hoene claimed two victories. She won the 100 hurdles in 17.31 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 49.38. Aubrey Denning won the 1600 in 5:18.54 minutes.
