FLORA — Effingham Junior High School competed in the Flora Track Meet Thursday at Dancey Field and came out with a huge night of personal records.
“Wow, what a meet last night,” said EJHS Coach Nancy Ervin. “We had PRs all over the place and so many incredible performances. I could not be more proud of this group. The kids absolutely stepped up, handled the new order of events like pros, and best of all — we didn’t miss a single event! That’s a win in itself!”
Coach Ervin talked about personal records by:
7th Grade Girl: Kennedi Mulheron — Huge PR in high jump, clearing 4’7” . . . the bar was literally taller than she is!
7th Grade Boy: Jayden Zellers — Absolute speed! PR in the 400 with a 59.28 . . . faster than state qualifying!
8th Grade Girl: Mackynzie Hites — Personal record in everything. She also went out and nailed her first ever pole vault, clearing the opening height on her first attempt.
8th Grade Boy: Trenton Partlow — This is what hard work looks like — after not competing last year, he comes back and takes second in both the 800 and 1600 against stacked competition, even among his own teammates. He is on fire and crushing PRs.
