Effingham High School played host to Newton and sent the Eagles home with a 9-0 tennis loss Tuesday.
The Hearts’ Rece Kinney and Noah Jones were both singles winners by blanking their opponents, 6-0, 6-0.
Cannon Bockhorn won 6-3, 6-0 while Cole Jones claimed a 6-3, 6-1 victory.
Joel Flack won at No. 3, 6-0, 6-1 while Brady Wilson claimed a victory at No. 4, 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles play, Kinney and Bockhorn combined at the top spot to win, 6-0, 6-2. Flack and Wilson took the No. 2 win, which was the closest of the day, 6-0, 7-6 (1). Noah and Cole Jones finished at the No. 3 spot, winning 6-0, 6-1.
The Hearts improved to 13-3 on the season and will be back in action Friday and Saturday at the Apollo Conference Tournament, hosted by Mattoon.
