TROY — Effingham competed in the Troy Triad Match play Saturday. The tennis match play is set up as practice for the sectional where teams take on three opponents. Coaches arrange their lineup as they would for sectional play.
The Hearts won all three matches they played. Effingham edged Moline by a 3-1 count as Rece Kinney and Cannon Bockhorn won in singles play. Noah Jones and Cole Jones were winners in doubles. Kinney was a 6-0, 6-3 winners while Bockhorn went 6-0, 6-1.
In doubles play, Joel Flack and Brady Wilson went three sets to win, 3-6, 6-4, 10-5. Noah Jones and Cole Jones combined to win, also in three sets, 6-1, 5-7, 10-4.
EHS then blanked Troy Triad 4-0. Kinney went three sets to win at the No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-3 while Bockhorn took the second match 6-0, 6-1.
Brady Wilson and Joel Flack claimed the opening doubles match, 6-1, 6-0 while N. Jones and C. Jones combined to fight to a 3-6, 6-4, 10-5 victory.
Effingham handed St. Louis University High School a 4-0 loss.
Kinney was a 6-0, 6-4 winner while Bockhorn claimed a 6-0, 6-1 victory in singles play.
Wilson and Flack combined to win 7-6, (5), 7-5 at No. 1 doubles. The Jones players went 6-2, 6-3 for the No. 2 match.
