 Parkland College Softball Team Exits Softball World Series With Loss

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Parkland College saw its run at the NJCAA Division II Softball World Series come to an end Thursday.

The Cobras fell to State College of Florida (Manatee-Sarasota) by an 8-0 count in five innings.

State College of Florida scored two runs in the first inning then pushed that lead to 7-0 after two innings.

Parkland had only four hits in the contest. Lainey Klokkenga finished with two hits to lead the way.

Lucy Fearday, an Effingham St. Anthony graduate, was the starting pitcher. She went five innings, striking out six.

The Cobras finish out the season with a 40-20 overall record. They claimed the NJCAA Region 24 championship.

Other local members of the team are Saige Althoff (Effingham H.S.), Camille Wines and Ella Johnsson (St. Anthony H.S.)
