CENTRALIA — South Central moved into a 3-1 opening inning lead and went on for a 5-2 victory over Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran in high school softball action Monday.
The Cougars finished with 11 hits while Lauren Johnson tossed a five-hitter with seven strikeouts. She gave up just two walks in seven innings.
Meanwhile, Johnson aided her own cause with a single, double and two RBI. Maddie Peddicord added a double. Emmie Ruholl and Emily Rose finished with two singles and an RBI each. Annie Ruholl had two singles while Addy Ruholl had an RBI.

Effingham St. Anthony moved into a 1-0 opening inning lead and went on for an 11-4 victory over Flora Monday.
The two teams had six hits each. Julia Schultz and Mallory Litz hit a home run and had two RBI each. Lilly Gannaway finished with a double and an RBI. Jackie Vonderheide and Nancy Ruholl contributed a single and an RBI each. Sylvie Schumacher and Claire Kinkelaar had an RBI each.
The Bulldogs drew 10 walks in the game.
Ruholl tossed a six-hitter, giving up two walks and striking out six.

Cumberland came calling and claimed an 11-4 victory over Dieterich Monday.
The Pirates moved into a 3-0 opening inning lead, had a four-run third, a single run in the fourth and ended the game via the 10-run rule with three in the fifth.
Jude Miller had a single and double while Lauren Schnepper had two singles and three RBI. Kada Miles had two singles and an RBI and Ashton Tolen two singles. Mia Holsapple had a single and two RBI while Ava Long and Shelby Kingery had a single and an RBI each. Jade Carr added an RBI.
Holsapple went the distance, giving up four hits, one walk while striking out five.
Dieterich was led by Aliza Garner with a double.

Hutsonville/Palestine moved into a 2-1 opening inning lead. Altamont came back to knot the score at 2-2 in the second.
But, Hutsonville/Palestine didn’t stop there, The team moved into a 3-2 lead in the third and tacked on two more runs in the fourth for a 5-3 victory.
The winners finished with 13 hits. Altamont had six hits led by Avery Fleeharty and Ella Nelson with a double and an RBI each. Cecilia Pearcy added a single and an RBI while Alyssa Ruholl had two singles.
H. Monan tossed a six-hitter with two walks while striking out nine for H/P.
