 WSS Edges T-town, Altamont Defeats CHBC In Softball Action

STRASBURG — Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg tallied two runs in the bottom of the fourth breaking a 1-1 tie to edge Teutopolis, 3-2 in high school softball Thursday.

The two teams played to a 0-0 tie through two innings before the Wooden Shoes edged ahead 2-1 in the third. Windsor/Stew-Stras then came back with two runs in the bottom of the fourth to lead 3-2 and that’s where the scoring ended.

Both teams had five hits. Clarissa Johnson finished with a triple and had an RBI while Kinsley Dunaway added a double and an RBI. Mya Friese finshed with a single and an RBI.

Kendra Hayes was the winner on the mound. She pitched all seven innings, giving up two runs on five hits, three walks and striking out one.

Teutopolis was led by Malea Helmink with a double and an RBI and Chloe Hoene with a single and an RBI.

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City moved into a 1-0 lead in the opening inning. But Altamont came back with a run in the second to knot the score at 1-1 and then proceeded to score two runs in the third and fourth innings, five in the sixth and three in the seventh for a 13-4 victory Thursday.

Sophia Long tossed the seven innings on the mound, giving up four runs on five hits. She struck out 15 and walked seven.

Altamont had a 17-hit attack. Cecilia Pearcy finished with two singles, a double and an RBI while Adilyn Schnarre had three singles and four RBI. Sophia Long, Ella Nelson and Avery Fleeharty added two singles and two RBI each while Laila Hankins had two singles. Kara Bauer finished with a single and an RBI and Kennedi Schultz had an RBI

Carissa Wakefield had a double and three RBI for CHBC while Allison Shields added two singles and Ryleigh Sarver a single and an RBI.
