At Olney
Effingham St. Anthony fell to Greenville at the Class 1A Olney Regional Saturday.
“What a heartbreaking and proud way to end the season,” said St. Anthony Coach Martin Reyes. “We played very well. Rucker Harris touched the ball maybe five or six times all game. We created chance after chance but just couldn’t put one in. Regulation ended 0-0 and overtime ended 0-0, and it went to penalties, where Greenville advanced 4-2.
“The defense was excellent. Issac Fallert, Levi Flowers, Chae Swick, and Elijah Underbrink did very well. Eli Hiatt and Alex Koester were very good in the midfield, and the LaSarge bothers, Joey and Jackson did very well as wingers going forward. Jackson had two great chances. We were so good on corners. Elijah had a rebound off a corner that hit a defender on the line.
“Thank you to everyone who supported the team all year. They left everything on the field today.”
