Voting for seats on the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Board of Directors and Legislative Commission closed at midnight on Thursday, October 1, with the results being tallied and certified on Friday morning, October 2.
The election was significant, as IHSA member schools voted last November to expand the IHSA Board by four seats this fall, all four of which are reserved for a Superintendent, President, CEO, or Head of School. The four seats are determined geographically using the Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA) Super Regions.
The four inaugural electees to these new seats are all Superintendents and include Pontiac’s Ryan McGuckin (IASA Northcentral), Riverside-Brookfield’s Kevin Skinkis (IASA Northeastern), Collinsville’s Brad Skertich (IASA Southern), and Carbondale’s Daniel Booth (At-Large).
The four Superintendents will be joined by two other new Board members, as Monmouth-Roseville Principal Eric Matthews won the election in Division 6, and Timothy Christian Official Representative Jack LeGrand ran unopposed to fill the At-Large seat reserved for a private school representative.
Two other current Board members won reelection as well in Dunlap Principal Katie Cazalet (Division 4) and New Trier Official Representative Augie Fontanetta (Division 2).
The Board will elect its officers for the 2026-27 school term at its regular meeting on Wednesday, October 14.
IHSA member schools nominated candidates for the Board of Directors and Legislative Commission beginning on August 15. The nominations were tallied on September 16 and votes were cast from September 20 through October 1.
