ROBINSON — Effingham St. Anthony High School’s Logan Gowin set a school record with a 61 (-11) to claim medalist honors at the Robinson Boys Golf Invitational Monday at Quail Creek Country Club.
That and putting five individuals in the top 10 gave the Bulldogs the team championship.
St. Anthony tallied a 288 followed by Mount Carmel 300, Red Hill/Lawrenceville 316, Olney 333, Fairfield 342, Altamont 350, Oblong 369, Robinson 370, Paris 383 and Marshall 398.
Along with Gowin’s outstanding tally for first place, other St. Anthony players scoring were Jameson McAllaster 41-34 — 75 for fourth place, Trenton Sandschafer 37-39 — 76 for fifth place and Liam McAllaster 40-36 — 76 for sixth place.
Non-counting scores were Briggs Whitley 36-41 — 77, who finished seventh, and James Trupiano 40-40 — 80.
Altamont’s golfers were Mason Schaub 82, Evan Elam 85, Hunter Grobengieser 91, Harrison Lash 92, Henry Niermann 96 and Cooper McManaway 99.
At Effingham
Effingham claimed a quadrangular girls golf victory Monday at the Effingham Country Club.
The Hearts scored a 208 followed by Charleston 215, Pana 245 and Sullivan 48.
Medalist was Charleston’s Alex Clayton with a 37.
Scoring for EHS were Allison Kroenlein 40, Gieah Schlanser 48, Kennedy Tolliver 56 and Sophie Niebrugge 64.
Other’s competing for Charleston were Grace Geohner 55, Mia Hawkins 60, Olivia Rice 63 and Kinsley Gough 64.
Pana’s golfers were Chloe Beyers 55, Amberly Snyder 56, Ellie Sinclair 67 and Alyssa Pieper 67.
Sullivan’s golfers were Joanna Rickleman 52, Kaylee Smith 60, Gracelyn Johnson 65, Jayla Black 71 and Miracle Wilson 71.
At Effingham
In a junior varsity boys contest, Teutopolis tallied a 174-188 win over St. Anthony Monday.
Low individuals were T-town’s Tommy Habing 39 and St. Anthony’s Charlie Hoene 39.
Scoring for the Wooden Shoes were Habing 39, Mason Thompson 41, Luke Zielger 45 and Sam Probst 49. Also competing were Koen Dasenbrock 49 and Kason Meyer 50.
Scoring for the Bulldogs were Hoene 39, Derek Hann 48, Marcus Geen 50 and Zaiden Page 51. Non-counters were Keegan Overbeck 52 and Elijah Underbrink 61.
Teutopolis JV also competed in the Hamilton County Invitational, finishing 10th out of 11 teams as the only JV team in the field.
The Shoes shot 366. Eldorado was the champion with a 319.
Evan Probst led the Shoes with an 89 followed by Xavier Schumacher 90, Kale Goeckner 93, Drew Kirby 94, Landon Huber 94 and Gavin Althoff 98.
