Effingham Junior High School traveled to Parkside Cross Country Invite in Bloomington Saturday for their biggest meet of the season.
“What a fun meet with lots of runners,” said EJHS Coach Nancy Ervin. “We had PRs from K. Jones— by 9 seconds, C. Althoff— by 21 seconds, E. Mette — by 37 seconds and D. Wyckoff — by 6 seconds.
“We also had several runners who came so close to their PRs, and that is something to be proud of especially on a course this challenging and with this many runners
“Thirteen returning runners beat their times from last year. ”
Total runners for the meets were, Girls Varsity: 356, Boys Varsity: 386, Girls Open: 614 and Boys Open: 649.
“That’s a lot of runners,” said Coach Ervin “Great job to everyone who competed, supported teammates, and gave it their all.
“Congratulations to the “Goats of the Meet”: Iz. Schwerman — so close to a PR but she ran so well, looked very strong and crushed her time from last year! She also finished second for the girls varsity today. L. Zerrusen, also close to a PR and moved up several places in the lineup from the Centralia meet. He keeps working so hard.”
Cow Chip Meet
“This race was run per grade so the places are for that age group,” said St. Anthony Junior High Coach Dana Mammoser.
