Effingham St. Anthony, South Central, North Clay and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg advanced to the final four in the National Trail Conference Baseball Tournament with victories Monday.
In Game 2, St. Anthony ended this game via the 10-run rule over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City by an 11-1 count.
The Bulldogs edged out to a 2-0 opening inning lead then tacked on two more in the second, one in the third and three in the fourth and fifth each.
B. Verdeyen led the way with a double and two RBI while F. Jansen added a triple. A. Mayer had two singles and an RBI while C. Tingley and Q. Stephens finished with a single and an RBI each.
C. Dorris went four innings for the pitching win. He gave up one run on three hits, walked three and struck out eight.
The Bobcats were led by C. Ondes with two singles and Z. Bennett with a single and an RBI.
South Central finished with a 10-hit attack in a 6-3 victory over Neoga.
The Cougars edged out to a 1-0 opening inning lead then broke the game open with a five-run second.
South Central finished with 10 hits led by C. Tockstein with a single, double and an RBI, R. Dodson with a double and an RBI, A. Hoover with two singles and two RBI and L. Shumate with two singles.
Tockstein went 4.1 innings for the mound victory. He gave up three runs on two hits, walked seven and struck out five.
Neoga was led by B. Sparrow with a single and two RBI.
Dieterich edged North Clay, 8-7 in nine innings.
The two teams were tied at 3-3 in the opening inning. North Clay moved ahead with two runs in the second and held that until Dieterich tied in the fifth.
The Cardinals again moved ahead with two runs, this time in the bottom of the sixth. But, here came Dieterich tying the score in the seventh and winning the game in the ninth.
B. Schottman had a double and three RBI while C. Stortzum had a single, double and three RBI. K. Hall added a double. G. Meinhart had three singles.
B. Schottman was the winning pitcher, going 3.2 innings, giving up five runs on nine hits, walking one and striking out three.
North Clay was led by C. Cartright with three singles and two RBI, C. Schnepper and L. Ruholl with three singles each, W. Ballard with two singles and an RBI and C. Lewis with a single and an RBI.
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg captured a 5-3 victory over Altamont.
The two teams played to a 1-1 third quarter tie before Windsor/Stew-Stras broke loose with a four-run fifth. Altamont made a comeback in the sixth with two runs only to fall short.
Both teams had five hits but Altamont committed three errors.
Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Jones with a triple, Pruemer with a single and two RBI and Manhart with two RBI.
Altamont was led by Miller with a double, Stuemke and Wolff with a single and an RBI each and Berg with an RBI.
St. Anthony will meet South Central at 4 p.m. Wednesday while Dieterich and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg square off, also at 4 p.m. The winners will advance to the championship game Saturday at noon while the losers will meet for third place at 10 a.m.
