ST.ELMO — Altamont overcame an early jump and pulled away late in Tuesday’s game, defeating Brownstown/St. Elmo, 10-6 in baseball matchup.
BSE jumped in front 4-2 after the first inning, but Altamont answered with a run in the second and then broke the game open with three runs in the fifth and three more in the seventh.
At the plate for BSE, Logan Lash went 2-and-4 with two RBI’s, while Zayden Gillespie added a double and finished 1-and-3. Nolan Wilhour was 1-and-4 and Tucker Davison went 1-for-2.
The loss dropped Brownstown/St. Elmo to 5-2 overall and 1-2 in the National Trail Conference.
Logue also collected a hit and scored a run. Jayce Gillespie started on the mound for Brownstown/St. Elmo and worked four innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out six and walking nine.
Dodge Willms relieved and pitched three innings, giving up seven runs on nine hits while striking out five and walking two.
Stuemke started on the mound for Altamont and worked five innings, allowing six runs– four earned— while striking out three. Everett finished the game with two scoreless innings.
Altamont’s three-run fifth inning proved to be the turning point, as the Indians turned a 3-4 deficit into a 6-4 advantage.
Altamont added another run in the sixth before putting the game away with three runs in the seventh.
Davis led the Indians at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Stuemke added two hits and drove in three runs, while Wolff had a hit and drove in two.

At St. Anthony
The St. Anthony Bulldogs powered their way to a 12-2 victory over South Central on Tuesday, scoring in three of the final four innings.
St. Anthony pitcher F. Jansen turned in a strong performance on the mound, working four scoreless innings while allowing just one hit. Jansen struck out five and walked three, keeping South Central off the scoreboard.
The Bulldogs broke through in the second inning with four runs and added five more in the third to take a commanding 9-0 lead. St. Anthony added three runs in the fifth to finish the scoring.
M. Karolewicz pitched the final inning for St. Anthony, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out one.
South Central struggled to find its offense, collecting only four hits against the Bulldogs’ pitching. G. Shumate started for South Central and allowed nine runs over 2⅓ innings. Dodson and another South Central pitcher combined to finish the game.
At the plate, the Bulldogs were led by several key contributors, including C. Dorris, who drove in three runs, while J. Gannaway, B. Verdeyen and C. Tingley each scored multiple runs.
With strong pitching and an explosive middle of the game, St. Anthony controlled the contest from start to finish and earned a convincing 12-2 win.
