 BSE, Altamont, Neoga Capture High School Baseball Victories

BROWNSTOWN — Brownstown/St. Elmo broke a 1-1 second inning tie against Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and claimed a 7-2 high school baseball victory Tuesday.

BSE scored five runs in the fourth and finished with a run in the fifth.

Jayce Gillespie had the lone hit for BSE with a single and drove in a run. Calvin Voelker and Tucker Davison had an RBI each.

CHBC committed nine errors in the game but outhit BSE by a 7-1 count. Vaughn had a single, double and an RBI while Hardimon had two singles and Kircher and Bennett a double each. Roadarmel added a single and an RBI.

BSE improved to 1-0 in the National Trail Conference and 4-0 overall. BSE returns to action Thursday against Wayne City.

Altamont took a 2-0 lead in the second inning an went on for a 3-1 victory over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Tuesday.

The Indians finished with eight hits led by K. Davis with two singles and an RBI. K. Wolff added a single and an RBI while J. Hunt had an RBI.

The Hatchets had three hits led by Wetherell with a single and an RBI. Manhart and Friese added a single each.

Altamont’s Z. Miller went six innings on the mound, giving up one hit, three walks while striking out five.

Dieterich edged out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning but Neoga came back with three runs in the second and tallied one more in the third for a 4-2 victory.

Neoga finished with six hits and was aided by five Dieterich errors.

E. Fearday led the way with three singles and an RBI for the winners while G. Ballinger had a single and an RBI.

M. Coy tossed the four-hitter, giving up three walks while striking out eight.

Dieterich was led by C. Stortzum with two singles and an RBI and M. Niemerg with a single and an RBI.

Neoga improved to 1-0 in the National Trail Conference and 3-0 overall. The Indians are back in action Thursday hosting Teutopolis in a 4:30 p.m. contest.
