Effingham and Newton will meet for the Class 2A Effingham Baseball Regional championship after the two teams picked up victories Wednesday.
Newton blanked Robinson in the first game, 7-0.
The Eagles finished with 11 hits in the contest and Robinson was held to four hits and committed four errors.
Newton moved into a 3-0 opening inning lead then had two-run innings in the fourth and fifth.
Dominic Baltzell had three singles and three RBI while Quincy Fulton had a single and double. Drake Wolf finished with two singles and two RBI and Maddox Horner added two singles.
Carson Barthelme tossed seven innings to come out the winning pitcher. He gave up four hits, one walk while striking out five.
In the second contest, Effingham handed Olney, Richland County a 3-1 loss.
The Hearts moved into a 1-0 opening inning lead then added on two more runs in the third.
EHS finished with seven hits while two pitchers were holding Richland County to three hits.
Carter Braddy had a single and double while Brody Boehm finished with two singles. Braydon Tucker and Westin Hayes had a single and an RBI each.
Meanwhile, Jude Traub picked up the win on the mound. He went 5.1 innings, giving up one run on two hits. He struck out four and walked six. Wyatt Hayes finished out the 1.2 innings, giving up one hit while striking out four.
Effingham and Newton will now meet for the regional championship at 11 a.m. Saturday. The winner will advance to the Greenville Sectional Wednesday, June 3 to meet the winner of the Nashville Regional.
