 Altamont, Teutopolis Win In H.S. Baseball, Newton, Effingham Fall

ALTAMONT — Altamont picked up a final regular season victory over Edwards County (Albion) Friday in high school baseball action, 2-0.

The Indians moved into a 1-0 opening inning lead and tacked on the second run in the second inning.

Altamont had five hits led by Carson Milleville with two singles. Kade Milleville, Cooper McManaway and Kaiden Wolff added a single each and Brayden Elam had an RBI.

K. Milleville went the distance on the mound. He kept the Lions off the basepaths with 11 strikeouts and only one walk. He gave up four hits.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis only scored two runs but that was enough in a 2-0 victory over Father McGivney Catholic Friday.

The Wooden Shoes tallied a run in the second and one in the sixth behind six hits. Jason Kreke had a double while Davin Worman and Aiden Niemerg had two singles each. Worman added an RBI. Bryce Niebrugge had a single and an RBI.

Caleb Deters went the distance on the mound. He gave up two hits, two walks while striking out 12.

Greenville scored two runs in the second and that’s all the scoring there was in the game as the squad picked up a 2-0 victory over Newton.

Newton had only one hit, a single by David Ferguson.

Greenville’s Swaley went the distance on the mound, allowing one hit, two walks and striking out six.

At Effingham

Both teams were strong on the mound Saturday, but Centralia was just a little bit stronger at the plate with a 3-2 victory over Effingham.

Max Flack started the game for the Hearts and recorded 13 outs.

Effingham held a 2-1 opening inning lead but Centralia tied in the third. The Orphans then tallied the winning run in the top of the sixth.

The Hearts outhit Centralia by a slight 8-7 count. Brayden Tucker had a double and drove in two runs while Westin Hayes had two singles. The rest of the hits were all singles by five different players.
