 Teutopolis Blanks Altamont, 8-3 In High School Baseball

ALTAMONT — Coach Justin Fleener’s Teutopolis High School baseball team just keeps adding victims to its win total.

The Wooden Shoes chalked up an 8-0 victory over Altamont Monday in a game heard on KJ Country 102.3.

T-town edged out to a 1-0 opening inning lead. With two outs, Jason Kreke showed power with a solo home run.

Altamont came back in the second to load the bases. With two outs, Blake Berg, Will Reardon and Reed Stuemke drew back-to-back-to-back walks. But the Shoes got out of the inning unscathed as shortstop Andy Lustig threw to second baseman Teagan Pals to get Stuemke for the final out of the inning.

T-town came back with a four-run third inning. Gavin Addis led off the frame with a double. Lustig singled, Addis went to third. Lustig stole second. Davin Worman drew a walk that loaded the bases. Jason Kreke then singled home Addis. Austin Borries followed with a single that scored Lustig and Worman. Aiden Niemerg followed with a single that scored Kreke and suddenly the Shoes led 5-0.

Altamont came back with a run in the third. With two outs, Brayden Elam drew a walk. Cooper McManaway followed with a single. Kaiden Wolff then singled Elam home and the Indians trailed 5-1.

T-town added to its total in the fourth. Bryce Niebrugge singled to start the frame. Addis followed with a triple, scoring Niebrugge. A single by Lustig, his second of the game, scored Addis. With one out, Lustig came home on a single by Kreke, his second of the game.

Altamont rallied in the sixth. Kaiden Wolff led off the farme with a single. With one out, Will Reardon doubled. Reed Stuemke then ground out and Wolff scored. With two out, Kade Milleville drew a walk. Carson Milleville followed with a single that scored Reardon. But T-town got out of the inning without suffering further damage.

The Shoes got a runner on base in the seventh on a walk.

Altamont’s McManaway picked up his second single of the game in the bottom of the seventh. He proceeded to advance to third base but the Indians couldn’t get him home and the game ended.

T-town had 12 hits in the contest led by Kreke with two singles, a double, home run and three RBI. Addis had a double, triple and an RBI. Lustig finished with two singles and an RBI. Borries had a single and two RBI. Niebrugge had two singles.

Altamont was led by Reardon with a double and Wolff with two singles and an RBI. C. Milleville added a single and an RBI.

Caleb Deters was the winner on the mound to improve to 6-0. He came on in relief in the third going 4.1 innings, giving up two runs on three hits. He walked one and struck out eight.

The Shoes improved to 21-8 and are back in action Thursday at Olney.

Altamont dropped to 18-8 and will return to play Thursday at Salem.
