EDWARDSVILLE — Teutopolis High School went 1-2 at the Edwardsville Tiger Baseball Classic Friday and Saturday.
In the Friday contest, Edwardsville was an 8-3 winner over the Wooden Shoes. T-town held a 3-1 lead in the third inning but Edwardsville came back with a six-run fifth and finished out with a run in the sixth.
T-town had only six hits compared to 13 for the Tigers.
The Shoes were led by Jason Kreke with a triple and Austin Borries with a single, double and two RBI. Aidan Niemerg added a single and an RBI.
In Saturday’s first game, Teutopolis edged Chatham Glenwood, 6-5.
The Shoes held a 2-1 opening inning lead. Glenwood came back with three runs in the fifth to move ahead 4-2 and pushed that to 5-2 in the top of the seventh.
But T-town rallied, scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the victory.
Kreke hit a home run and finished with three RBI. Borries added a double and two RBI and Teagan Pals had an RBI.
In the second Saturday contest, T-town fell to Highland, 6-3.
The Shoes led 1-0 in the first. Highland tied in the second then moved into a 4-1 lead in the fourth and tacked on two more runs in the fifth. The Shoes attempted a second come-from-behind victory, scoring two runs in the seventh only to fall short.
Davin Worman hit a solo homer while Borries had a single, double and two RBI, Pals a single and double and Kreke two singles.
In other scores from the tourney, Chatham Glenwood 4, Highland 0; Edwardsville 7, Highland 1 and Chatham Glenwood 5, Edwardsville 2.
T-town is now 20-8 on the season.
