Jude Traub was dominant on the hill as Effingham High School handed Mahomet-Seymour a 7-3 baseball loss Wednesday in a game heard on KJ Country 102.3.
Traub gave up only five hits and struck out 10 in the win on the mound in 6 2/3 innings. He walked four.
Meanwhile, Andrew Wagoner got EHS off in the right direction with a solo homer to lead off the first inning.
Mahomet-Seymour tied in the second as Pierce Douglas singled, stole second and came home on a single by Nolan Franze.
But EHS retaliated with three runs in the second. Max Flack led off by drawing a walk. With two outs, Wyatt Hayes singled followed by a single by Wagoner that brought Flack home. Brody Boehm singled home Hayes and the Hearts led 4-1.
