Scoring came late in this game as Altamont and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg battled through four scoreless innings in high school baseball action Monday.
Altamont broke loose in the fifth with two runs and followed with a final run in the sixth. Windsor/Stew-Stras tallied one run in the bottom of the seventh and suffered the 3-1 loss.
Pitching took center stage as Zaine Miller went the distance for Altamont. He gave up one run on three hits, walked one and struck out seven in the win on the mound.
Carter Verdeyen and Noah Pruemer combined for the Hatchets. Verdeyen went five innings, giving up two runs on three hits, walking two and striking out nine. Pruemer finished out the final two innings, giving up one run on three hits and one walk.
Cooper McManaway had the lone extra base hit for Altamont with a triple and an RBI. Carson Milleville finished with a single and two RBI while Kade Milleville had two singles.
Carter Verdeyen finished with two of the Hatchets three hits, a single and a double. Noah Pruemer had an RBI.

At Dieterich
Dieterich trailed Odin/Patoka/Sandoval 3-1 after the first inning and 7-4 after three. But the Maroons started a comeback with three runs in the third then moved ahead with a four-run fourth. They polished off O/P/S with two runs in the fifth for the 10-7 victory.
Dieterich finished with 11 hits led by Gavin Meinhart with two singles, a home run and three RBI. Bryce Bohnhoff with three singles and four RBI and Andrew Hall had a single, double and two RBI.
Mason Lidy tossed 4.1 innings for the win on the mound. He gave up two hits, struck out eight and walked two in relief.

At Newton
Newton’s bats were swinging and connecting Monday in a 12-2 victory over Marshall in six innings.
The Eagles had 14 hits. Dominic Baltzell finished with two singles, a double and two RBI. Quincy Fulton and Maddox Horner had a single, double and two RBI each. Drake Wolf finished with a double and two RBI. Carson Bathelme added two singles. Jackson James had a single and two RBI while David Ferguson had a single and an RBI.
Barthelme went the six innings, giving up two runs on three hits, striking out six and walking four.

At Charleston
Teutopolis and Charleston were tied at 1-1 after the first inning. T-town then moved ahead 3-1 in the top of the fifth but the Trojans came back to tie the score again at 3-3.
The Trojans then pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh for the 4-3 victory.
The Wooden Shoes ended with five hits but had three errors in the game. Austin Borries led the way with two singles and an RBI while Jason Kreke added a single and an RBI.
Teutopolis dropped to 13-4 on the spring season while Charleston improved to 9-2.
The Wooden Shoes are back in action today at St. Anthony in a 4:30 p.m. game that can be heard on KJ Country 102.3.
Robinson edged Teutopolis 10-9 in freshman/sophomore action.
Robinson ran out to a 5-0 lead after three innings then added on five more in the fourth. T-town fought back with three in the fourth, four in the fifth and two in the sixth only to fall short.
T-town had seven hits led by Will Bushur with a single, double and three RBI, Luke Niebrugge with a single, double and two RBI, D. Drees with a single and double and B. Schumacher with two RBI.

Tri-County moved into a 3-0 first inning lead on Cumberland but the Pirates came back to tie the score in the second.
Tri-County then tallied three more in the third and this time the squad kept the lead and finished with a 6-4 victory.
Cumberland had one more hit than the winners with four. Evan Davis hit a solo home run while Adyn Heuerman added a double. Maddox Miller finished with two singles and an RBI. Grady Jones and Bryson Webber had an RBI each.
Tri-County had two home runs off the bat of Chase Rhode who finished with four RBI while Kahle Lee had a solo homer.

North Clay improved to 18-3 on the season with a 6-1 victory over Fairfield Monday.
The Cardinals are back in action today at South Central in a 4:30 p.m. contest.
At Effingham
St. Anthony moved into a 5-0 lead in a junior varsity contest against Greenville and went on to end this game in the fourth inning by a 17-1 count.
The Bulldogs’ Freddie Jansen tossed a no-hitter. He went two innings, did not allow a walk and struck out six. Mason Karolewicz came on to throw an inning and struck out one while Jonny Gannaway finished out the final inning, giving up a run, walking one and striking out three.
Gannaway had a double, triple and three RBI while Charlie Hoene had a single, double and two RBI, James Trupiano a single, double and one RBI, Curtis Tingley a double and an RBI, Connor Storm two singles and two RBI and Andrew Wagner a single and three RBI.
