Marcella Cecelia Vogt, 86, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by a rosary on Tuesday, November 3, 2026 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Sacred Heart School in Pana, IL. Online condolences may be shared at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.
Marcella was born on March 18, 1940, in Shelby County, IL, the daughter of Frank and Regina (Schabbing) Lawrence. She married Paul Vogt on May 6, 1961 in St. Michael Catholic Church in Sigel and to this union six children were born. He preceded her in death on November 6, 2019.
Marcella was a wonderful mother. She was the happiest at home being around family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marcella enjoyed her record collection, especially Elvis, sewing, collecting salt and pepper shakers, and family genealogy. She was always early and was good with dates and numbers. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
Marcella is survived by her six children, Norma (Randy) Glenn of Chugwater, WY, Vernon (Angie) Vogt of Watson, Dean (Ann) Vogt of Watson, Melvin Vogt of Watson, Judy Vogt of Pana, and Jody Vogt of Pana; grandchildren, Jacob Glenn, Michael (Eve) Glenn, Lexie Vogt, Dustin (Molly) Vogt, Callie (Rex) Goodwin, and Elizabeth (Andrew) Walk; great-grandchildren, Logan Glenn, Noah Glenn, Jacqueline Vogt, Caroline Vogt, Vivian Vogt, Baby Vogt on the way, Theo Goodwin, and Meredith Goodwin; brother, Raymond Lawrence; and sister-in-law, Shirley (Jerry Siewert) Lawrence Siewert.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; brother, Donald Lawrence; infant brother, Richard; and sister-in-law, Betty Lawrence.
