Georgia A. Willenborg, 84, of Sigel, IL, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Effingham.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to St. Anthony Schools or Catholic Charities. Online condolences may be shared at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.
Georgia was born on February 15, 1942, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Herbert and Mineana “Cricket” (Loy) Stortzum. She married Theodore Willenborg on April 11, 1959 and he preceded
her in death on February 3, 2019. Georgia had worked many years at JC Penney in Effingham and later as a greeter at Walmart. She had a love of nature and camping and taking evening drives. Georgia liked to spoil her grandkids and attended many of their games. She was involved in the RCIA program at St. Anthony Church for many years. She had a willingness of helping those in need and participated with Helping Hands Helping Others.
Georgia is survived by her grandsons, Tyler Bloemer and Alex (Nicole) Bloemer; great-grandson, Theodore Bloemer; brothers, Jay (Winnie) Stortzum, Jim (Mary Beth) Stortzum; and Wood
(Donna) Stortzum; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Theodore; and daughter, Thyra “Tira” Bloemer.
