Sue Ann Jacobs was born on Thursday, April 3, 1947 in Effingham to Delano ‘Bud’ and Viola (Huffmaster) Wetherell. She grew up in Shumway, Illinois in the building that held the Shumway post office. There, she and her four siblings (one with special needs) learned important life lessons that became permanent foundations. To love and have a daily relationship with God, to respect one another and their elders, to be frugal. To do tasks properly without cutting corners, not to be lazy, and to be servants to one another. Sue and her brothers and sister were tasked to help their parents in the home as well as with brother, Duane. They continued to share responsibility of Duane until his death. To give was second nature to Sue whether it was her time, her shoulder or a helping hand. If someone was in need or there was a project that needed completed, Sue could always be found giving aid. She married Larry L. Jacobs on May 14, 1967 and he preceded her in death on November 26, 2010. She was a long-time employee of Dr. D.G. Huelskoetter at the Altamont clinic. Sue was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Shumway.

She is survived by; her daughter, Beth Ann Smith, Altamont; brothers, Dale (Diane) Wetherell, Stewardson and Don (Tammy) Wetherell, Stewardson; sister, Betty Jo Wetherell, Effingham; grandchildren, Riley Smith and Jenna Smith, Altamont, sisters in law, Carol (Richard) Jacobs, Effingham; Glenda (James) Jacobs-Wright, Mattoon; Diane (Steve) Kibler, Dieterich.
