Guy Thomas Wilson, Sr. age 86, of Newton, passed away Friday, September 18, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services to honor Guy’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton with Billy Wilson officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 23 until time of services in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery with military rites by Jasper Post No. 20 of the American Legion.
Guy was born on October 16, 1939, in Jasper County, Illinois the son of Samuel Greenup and Frona Ethel (Chapman) Wilson. Guy faithfully served his country in the U.S. Airforce. On January 12, 1963, Guy married Margaret L. Piercefield. They shared sixty-two years of marriage before her passing on March 26, 2025. Guy worked at Jesse B. Holt in the truss shop until his retirement. In his free time, Guy enjoyed watching westerns and football. His two favorite teams were the Bears and the Colts; but he often rooted for the underdog. He enjoyed mushroom hunting. His favorite spot was at the kitchen table. He liked to sit, have a beer and visit with his family.
Guy will be loved and remembered by his children, Tom (Patty) Wilson, Jr. of Newton, Dolly (Jim) Hamilton of Hunt City, Cathy (Kenneth Ochs) Wilson of Ste. Marie, Mendy (Richard) Rubsam of Newton, Kasey (fiancé Bryan Sempsrote) Wilson of Bogota, Nichole (Travis) Reynolds of Newton and Chipp Wilson of Oblong; grandchildren, Natashia Webb, Tommy Wilson, Kaleb Wilson, Nichole Reynolds, Chipp Wilson, Sammie Hundley, Kristopher Curtis, Taylor Tarpley, Irelynne Ochs, Gavin Ochs, Maekenna Ochs, Brock Rubsam, Reid Rubsam, Reagan Rubsam, Garrett Rubsam, Rylee Goad, Mylee Goad, Lennon Sempsrote, Bronx Sempsrote, Ashton Reynolds, Kodi Reynolds, Weston Reynolds; and 25 great-grandchildren.
His parents, wife Margaret and siblings Shirley Faye Wilson, Sidney Albert Wilson, Virginia Lundquist, Rosemary Dulgar, Billie J. Wilson, James F. Wilson, Iotis Kennedy and Dolly Kant preceded him in death.
Memorial gifts in honor of Guy may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Support Fund.
