Sandra Jean Holzhausen, age 83, of Effingham, Illinois, formerly of Edgewood, Illinois, passed away, Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Effingham, Illinois.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Keens Chapel Cemetery, rural LaClede, Illinois. Mike Durre will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, The Haven, 10289 Haven Road, Carbondale, Illinois, 62901, or donor’s choice. Sandra was born August 7, 1943, in Effingham, Illinois, the daughter of Roy W. Smith and Revenelle J. Logan Smith. Sandra was an outstanding cook, giving apple pies as gifts to those that she loved. She loved to dance and crochet, making sure that everyone had an Afghan.
She is survived by her son, John (Allison) Courson of Effingham; one daughter, Kimberly (Lance) Farmer of Henderson, Nevada; brother, Roy E. (Tena) Smith of Louisville, Illinois; two sisters, Judy (Bill) Hawkey of Kinmundy, Illinois, Toni Griffith of Florence, Alabama; three grandchildren, Kelsey Deadmond, Samuel Beard, Kylee Beard; four great-grandchildren; special nephew, Joshua Griffith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her parents, Roy and Revenelle Smith.
