E. Joann Walker, 85, of Newton, IL passed away at 10:20 am on Saturday August 1, 2026, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday August 5, 2026, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup. There will be a one-hour visitation prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm. The burial will be in the Jewett Cemetery.
Joann was born on November 27, 1940, in Neoga, IL to Harold and Helen (Scoles) Russell. She married Rex Walker on February 10, 1957, and he preceded her in 2018.
Survivors include son-in-law Paul Leahy; grandchildren Chris Walker, Patti Walker, Megan (Ed) Rader, and Philip Leahy; great grandchildren Ava and Aubrey Himes; and close friend Derick Fischer.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rex; parents; son David Walker; daughter Cathy Leahy; and brothers Donnie and Larry.
Joann was a homemaker and worked for ER Moore for over 25 years. She loved her family, neighbors, and especially diet coke.
