Daniel J. Pruemer, 76 of Teutopolis, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2026 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, August 10, 2026 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Bauer Funeral home in Effingham. Memorials donations may be given to Teutopolis Civic Club.
Daniel was born June 9, 1950 in Teutopolis, the son of Albert and Magdalen (Worman) Pruemer. He graduated from Teutopolis High School, the Class of 1968, and continued his education at Lake Land College. On July 29, 1978, he married Myra Smith and they were blessed with two children, Charles and Laura.
Daniel grew up on the family farm in rural Teutopolis and had many fond memories of times there with his family and friends. He was an Engineering Technician for over 40 years. Daniel had a passion for hunting, fishing, and very much enjoyed camping. He loved his family and life in the country. Daniel was a member of St. Francis Church and the Teutopolis Knights of Columbus Council #2874.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Myra of Teutopolis; son, Chuck (Jennifer) of Toledo; daughter, Laura Pitcher of Newton; sisters, Mary Carol Bierman of Dieterich, Pat (Joe) Hacke of Mars, PA, and Jane Pruemer of Teutopolis; brother, Jim (Brenda) of Altamont; five grandchildren, Olivia and Jack (fiancé, Madison) Pruemer, Jarrett, Bristol, and Wyatt Pitcher; brothers-in-law, Brad (Betty) Smith of Teutopolis and Ted (Lynne) Smith of Plano, TX.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Alice Pruemer; father and mother-in-law, James and Peggy Smith; brother-in-law, Kenneth Bierman.
