Jonathan Clark Taylor Jr, 75, of Toledo, IL passed away at 4:10 am on Monday July 20, 2026, at the Willow Breeze Hospice House in Mattoon.
Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Trap Shoot will be held at a later date. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo is assisting the family.
Jonathan was born on June 23, 1951, in Mattoon, IL to Jonathan Clark and Bernadine May (Swisher) Taylor Sr. He married the love of his life Sharon Jean Titus, at the Liberty Hill Church on July 15, 1972.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sharon; sons Jonathan (Mariellen) Taylor III and Matthew Taylor (Ashley Warner); daughter Amanda Taylor (fiancé Philip Mays); grandchildren: Makayla Garcia (fiancé Braden Eaton), Malachi Watkins, Breanne Edwards, and Logan (Brooklyn) Edwards; great grandchildren: Phellyx Garcia, Atticus Garcia, Eloise Garcia, and Aspen Edwards; and his four-legged friend Amy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerry Taylor and sister Barbara Inman.
Jonathan worked at Littelfuse in Arcola and at the Lerna Grain Elevator. He was an avid trap shooter, shooting almost every night since 1959. He was a member at the Toledo Christian Church, the Cumberland County Sportsman Club, and a volunteer for the Lincoln Fire Protection District. He was a former member of the Amateur Trapshooters Association. He loved fishing, spending a great amount of time on Lake Mattoon and Lake Paradise. Jonathan always rooted for the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears.
