Nelda Lorraine Sager, 94, of Avon, IN, formerly of Effingham, IL, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Traditions at Reagan Park Assisted Living Facility.
Lorraine was born in Herrick, IL on August 5, 1931, the daughter of Rollie and Alma (Pope) Frailey. She graduated from Herrick High School in 1949. She married Robert Sager in 1955 at which time they moved to Washington, IL. They moved back to Herrick in 1975 where she worked as a school secretary at the Cowden-Herrick Elementary School. In 1995, they moved to Effingham IL. Her greatest joy, next to serving the Lord, was her four granddaughters.
Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Lola (Bob) Abel; granddaughters, Betsie (Ezra) McAfee, April (Brian) McCulloh, Sarah (Jason) Pittman, Michelle (Matt) Cronn; and eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Barbara (Bill) Sanders, Karen Warner, and sister-in-law, Mary Frailey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Beulah Bearup and Georgia Berryman; and brother, Donald Frailey.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, IL. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from
