Dwayne D. Tarrant, 65, of Effingham, died at 8:04 p.m., Friday, June 12, 2026, at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Effingham, IL.
Dwayne Don Tarrant was born on Friday, July 1, 1960, in Banner Township, rural Effingham, IL to Charles Irvin and Mary M. (Askins) Tarrant.
Dwayne grew up on the family farm and loved to hunt. He was a sweet soul that made people love him. He was very persistent in his wants and would do just about anything for a Diet Pepsi and shrimp. He loved his family beyond measure. He loved to read anything but treasured his magazines, especially Muscular Development. He had hoped to be a doctor but life had other plans, and so he spent his life reading everything he could read and carrying his magazines around till they were shredded and he still would treasure them. He made sure to ask about everyone and would say tell them I LOVE them, and he did.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m, Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont. Burial will follow at Rentfrow Cemetery, rural Shumway. Memorials may be made to the family.
He is survived by; his brother, Ralph Tarrant of Effingham and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by; his parents; brothers, Charles and Floyd Tarrant and Lloyd, Bobby and Gary in infancy; and sisters, Mary in infancy, Rosemary Alwardt, Lois Miller, Norma Webb, Esta Pease and Lucille Tarrant.
