Kevin E Spain, age 63, of Effingham, Illinois passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at his home.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Pagel Funeral Home in St. Elmo, Illinois. Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Avena Township Cemetery or the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.pagelfuneralhome.com.
Kevin was born on November 10, 1962 in Vandalia, Illinois, the son of Edward Leroy Spain and Aileen Kay (Guffey) Spain. Kevin was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and Miami Dolphins fan. He loved Batman, and collecting Hot Wheels. He also enjoyed spending time fishing and browsing flea markets.
Kevin is survived by his mother, Kay Spain of St. Elmo; sister, Pam Haslett (Tim) of St. Elmo; step-sons, Grant Green (Trisha) of Salem, and Matt Green of Salem; nephews and nieces, Travis Haslett of St. Elmo, Tyler Haslett of St. Elmo, Toby Haslett (Jeni) of St. Elmo, Traci Thoele (Josh) of Indiana, and Taylor Forston (Neal) of Indiana; great-nephews and nieces, Silas Haslett, Parker Haslett, Saylor Haslett, Mason Thoele, Colson Thoele, and Carter Thoele; and his aunt, Linda Miller of South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julie Spain; wife, Marcia Spain; father, Edward Leroy Spain; brothers, David Spain and Terry Spain; and grandparents, Leonard and Myrll Spain, and Lee and Pearl Guffey.
