Monty was born on January 3, 1953 in Mattoon, IL to Theo and Ruth (Foote) Swearingen.

Monty is survived by son Matt (Annie) Swearingen; brothers Bob (Lenora) Swearingen and Duane Swearingen; sister Pat (Don) Sutherland; grandchildren Reagan, Remi, and Ramsi; and Special Friend Jhonda LeMay.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Roger Swearingen.

Monty was the co – owner of River Bend Materials. But His love for sand & gravel started years ago when he and (Matt’s mom) Rita started up Swearingen Sand & Gravel. He was the owner/operator for many years before venturing more into the excavating/ demolition side of construction. Although he still could be found at any time, digging a pond or building a road, His true love was the sand and gravel business. He was so proud to be operating River Bend Materials with his son Matt and was even more excited that his only grandson (Reagan) was joining the family business. He had big plans of teaching him all the tricks of the trade. Monty also was an avid bird hunter. He took several trips to Kansas and Oklahoma over the years. Lots of hours spent walking and laughing with some of his closest friends. But one of his biggest accomplishments was his family! He loved his son dearly and loved working side by side with him at every job on a weekly basis for many years. Time he wouldn’t trade for anything. He loved his Grandson Reagan with all his heart and wanted him right in the middle of all the next biggest greatest ideas he had, he was going to be the one to carry on the Swearingen name and he couldn’t be more proud. His love for his granddaughters was filled to the brim. They taught him all the hair tricks, dance moves, and makeup hacks and he went right along with them all, smiling the whole way. Monty wore a smile on his face everywhere he went and will be remembered and missed by many. Monty was a member of the Arcola Masonic Lodge #366 AF & AM.
