Brent Jay Jasper, 65, originally from St. Peter, IL, currently resided in Burleson, Texas, passed away Wednesday, May 20th, 2026 peacefully at his home.

Brent was born on December 21st, 1960 in Vandalia IL, the son of William “Bill” Jasper and Helen (Borchelt) Jasper. He graduated from Farina LaGrove High School in the class of 1979, and then graduated from SIUC with a degree in Forestry. Brent’s career was marked by a steadfast commitment to service. For many years, he was a dedicated member of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, his work was not only a profession but a passion. Outside of his professional life, Brent found great joy and fulfillment as a devoted Scout leader. He inspired countless young minds, teaching them the importance of community, leadership, and respect for nature. His legacy in Scouting will be felt for generations to come.

He is survived by his children Billy (Taylor) Jasper of Mansfield, TX and Andy (Whitney) Jasper of Hurst, TX, who were his pride and joy. His sons remember him as a loving and supportive father, always there to guide and encourage them through life’s challenges and triumphs.

Among Brent’s greatest joys was being a grandfather aka “Hondo” to Ellie Jasper,  (daughter of Billy & Taylor) with a soon to be grandson on the way, and granddaughter Juniper Jasper (daughter of Andy & Whitney). He treasured every moment spent with them, whether it was swimming in his pool, playing games, or hearing their laughter.

Brent was also a beloved brother to Steve Jasper, Christie Wright, and Jill Marxman (special friend Tod Miller). His siblings remember him as the glue that held the family together, with a heart full of love and a spirit that could light up any room.

He was a caring uncle to numerous nieces and nephews including Travis (Cathy) Burich and family, Tyler (Hannah) Burich and family, Lexie Wright and daughter, Abby Marxman (special friend Caleb Martin) and family, Cole Marxman (special friend Lilly Funneman), Michael Groth, and Justin Groth.

In his leisure time, Brent loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. The moments of togetherness were the highlight of his life, and they resonate in the hearts of his loved ones as cherished memories.

Brent was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and brother in law Steve Wright.

Keeping with Brent’s wishes, a celebration of Brent’s life will be held at a later time.
