Donna Kay “Kay” Nicholas, age 80, of Sainte Marie, Illinois, passed away at 4:37 PM – Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Private family services will be held with burial in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com.
Donna Kay, better known as “Kay” was born on March 27, 1946, the daughter of Loren Bryan and Roselyn Louise (Cooley) Fuson. She graduated from Newton Community High School with the Class of 1964. On December 10, 1965, she married Elmer Harry “Bud” Nicholas, and he preceded her in death on June 15, 1981.Kay worked at CIPS Newton Power Station for several years. She later served as the Jasper County Chamber of Commerce Director and then worked in the Illinois Department of Rehab. Kay was a member of the Dulcimer Society.
Kay is survived by: Daughter – Kim Nicholas (Brian White) of Robinson, Illinois; Granddaughter – Lacey Ash of Robinson, Illinois; Special companion – Bo her dog
Kay was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
