Lester J. Cheadle, 83 of San Diego, California, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 27, 2026 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Michael Cemetery in Sigel. Memorial donations may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham.
Lester was born March 17, 1943 in Kinmundy, the son of Thomas and Rose (Piazza) Cheadle. He married Patricia M. Niebrugge on November 16, 1968 and she preceded him in death in 2012. Lester served in the Army and retired from the US Customs at the San Ysidro Port of Entry in San Diego, CA.
Lester is survived by his son, Thomas, and daughter, Rosemary; his daughter-in-law, Daneila Sosa, and grandson, Mauricio Cheadle.
Lester was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Patricia.
