Carole Mitchell, age 83, of Farina, Illinois, passed away at 5:50 AM – Thursday, April 9, 2026, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.
A private burial will be held at Trexler Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Arrangements are under the care of Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com.
Carole was born on April 7, 1943, in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of John and Lucille M. (Bundy) Matlock. She married Kenneth Mitchell in 1965. Carole worked as a florist for many years at the IGA in Salem, Illinois.
She is survived by-
Husband – Kenneth Mitchell of Farina, Illinois
Children- Shawn Mitchell of Farina, Illinois and Stacy (Steve) Linton of Herrin, Illinois
Grandchildren- Shawna Mitchell, Sam (Nicole) Mitchell, Zeke (Jaylynn) Linton and Zoey Linton
Carole was preceded in passing by her parents and brother Herbert (Betty) Matlock.
