The 6th Annual Effingham Turkey Drop, presented by Effingham Sunrise Rotary and Visiting Angels Living Assistance Services, will take place Saturday, November 14, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at New Hope Church, located at 2210 N. Raney Street in Effingham.
The annual event honors area veterans and service members by providing a free Thanksgiving meal for them to share with their families. All veterans, National Guard members, reservists and active-duty military personnel are invited to participate.
Last year, the Effingham Turkey Drop served 470 veterans and service members, and organizers hope to reach even more this year.
A valid military or veteran ID or DD214 is required. Participants must register in advance, with a deadline of noon on Friday, November 13.
To register, call (217) 821-6662 or visit effinghamturkeydrop2026.eventbrite.com.
The Effingham Turkey Drop is made possible through the generosity of local businesses, organizations and individuals whose contributions help ensure area veterans and service members can enjoy a Thanksgiving meal with their families.
