The newly released 2026 Illinois Report Card highlights strong student achievement and continued excellence across Teutopolis CUSD #50, with all three district schools earning an Exemplary Profile of Performance under Illinois’ new statewide accountability system.
This year, the Illinois State Board of Education introduced a redesigned accountability system that evaluates schools through multiple measures of student achievement, academic growth, attendance, and other indicators of student success. Unlike the previous system, the new Profiles of Performance recognize schools based on established performance expectations rather than statewide rankings.
All three Teutopolis CUSD #50 schools received the highest overall performance designation for 2026:
- Teutopolis High School — Exemplary
- Teutopolis Junior High School — Exemplary
- Teutopolis Grade School — Exemplary
“We’re extremely proud to see all three of our schools recognized at the Exemplary level,” said Superintendent Matthew Sturgeon. “This achievement reflects the hard work of our students, the dedication of our faculty and staff, and the continued support of our families and community. It’s a collective accomplishment that reinforces the strength of our Wooden Shoe community.”
Additional highlights from the district’s Report Card include student proficiency levels exceeding statewide averages, strong student attendance, and an exceptionally high graduation rate. The report also reflects the Board of Education’s continued commitment to responsible fiscal management, with per-pupil expenditures well below the state average while maintaining high-quality educational opportunities for students.
While the new accountability system differs from previous years, the district remains committed to using student performance data to celebrate successes, identify opportunities for growth, and guide ongoing improvement efforts. District leadership continues to focus on curriculum review, instructional practices, and resource alignment to support student learning across all grade levels.
“Our schools have a long-standing tradition of excellence, built through the shared commitment of generations of students, educators, families, and community members,” added Sturgeon. “We’re proud of this recognition, but our focus remains on providing every student with the opportunities and support needed to succeed, both now and in the future.”
