An Altamont resident was injured in a single-vehicle crash in Liberty Township on Monday afternoon.

The Effingham County Sherriff’s office reported that a vehicle operated by 49-year old Bryan Baker of Altamont was traveling southbound on 300th street at 3:53 p.m. approximately a quarter mile south of State Highway 33 negotiating the S-curves in the roadway.

A deer entered the roadway, and Baker swerved to miss the deer, causing him to lose control and strike the guardrail head-on at the east side of the roadway.

Baker was treated by Rural Med EMS, and later transported to HSHS St. Anthony’s Hospital.
