Altamont city council members Monday approved a grant writing agreement to help finance demolition of a former bank building in the downtown area.
The grant application has been delivered by South Central Illinois Regional Planning and Development Commission to Springfield. The funding would aid in taking down the structure at 102 West Washington.
The Council heard from Crystal Sphar-Finley, who owns Skin Refinery. She has concerns over the noise made by dogs who live in a business next door.
Council members also renewed employee health insurance through Blue Cross-Blue Shield with Tingley Insurance of Effingham. The coverage is at an increase of 6.8%.
