Charleston firefighters handled a fire at the Taco Bell on Lincoln Avenue in Charleston Monday.
Firefighters were dispatched after receiving a report of smoke coming from the roof and other areas of the structure. On arrival, they noticed flames and heavy smoke coming from the roof and side of the building.
The fire was contained to the kitchen area of the building. Significant heat and smoke damage was reported throughout the structure.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Charleston firefighters were assisted by Charleston police, Mattoon firefighters and Ameren.
