Dieterich village board members are considering various development opportunities.
The Board discussed establishing a TIF 4 district. The district would be pursued if the Village purchases land from the Hartke family for a Hartke Subdivision Phase 2. The TIF district is in place and has been for the past seven or eight years. Acquiring the land and pulling it out of the existing TIF 3 district and into a TIF 4 district would extend the life of the TIF and provide for additional development opportunities.
Dieterich board members also discussed a TIF residential exterior improvement program. The Village would provide funding for the exterior improvements using TIF monies. A similar program is in place in Effingham and also in Marion. If the program is enacted, Dieterich could begin taking applications starting in 2027.
The Board also considered a contract for soil borings to determine the location for a sewer lift station. Also approved was Trick or Treat night on October 31 from 5 to 7pm, and a temporary liquor license for a Boos and Brews event at Liberty Park on October 31.
