Teutopolis school board members this week approved a fiscal year budget that calls for $32,000 more in spending than in income. The district’s property tax rate is $3.47, continuing a multi-year decline.
The Board approved two vehicle purchases, a new 14-passenger activity bus and a used full-sized bus.
Superintendent Matt Sturgeon shared the latest on expansion and renovation at the junior high building, and shared a draft TIF agreement between the village and the school board to be considered in October.
A report reviewed questions regarding the grade school ballot that appear on the district’s Clear View website. The Board directed Sturgeon to repeat the 2024 board survey with all staff in October, and heard that April 2027 school board election materials are available at the Board page of the website.
In personnel matters, the Teutopolis board accepted a letter of retirement from Superintendent’s Office Secretary Norma Koester effective December 1; and hired these individuals: Sue Mills as high school volleyball second assistant for this school year only, Manny Wei and Leonard Westendorf to split a high school boys golf assistant position for this school year only, Tony Kreke as a fall baseball assistant coach for this school year only, Kathy Lee as girls tennis assistant coach for this school year only, Antonio Munoz as high school and junior high chorus instructor, and Owen Heuerman as a high school golf volunteer.
